The highest standard in the trade: every joint finished, then the entire surface skimmed. Reserved for rooms where light and paint sheen leave nowhere to hide.
What separates Level 5 from Level 4
A Level 4 finish treats the joints, corners and fasteners and leaves the paper face of the board exposed between them. It's the right choice for most painted rooms and it's what the majority of Kamloops homes get.
Level 5 adds a thin skim of compound over the entire wall or ceiling. That removes the difference in porosity and texture between finished joints and bare board — the difference that shows up as faint banding when strong light crosses the surface.
Where it's genuinely worth the cost
Level 5 earns its price in rooms with large windows, sidelighting or pot lights washing down a wall; with dark, saturated or satin and semi-gloss paint; in open-plan spaces with long uninterrupted walls; and behind feature finishes like limewash.
It is not worth paying for in bedrooms with flat off-white paint, closets, garages or service rooms. We'll recommend it room by room rather than as a blanket upgrade, and our Level 4 vs Level 5 guide explains the trade-off in more detail.
How we deliver it
Level 5 is unforgiving of shortcuts. The underlying Level 4 work has to be genuinely complete before skimming starts, the skim has to be even, and sanding has to flatten without scuffing the board face.
We finish with a raking-light inspection over every surface, correcting anything the light catches before the wall is released to the painter. Every Level 5 surface we complete is covered by our one-year crack warranty.

A thin, uniform coat over the entire surface, applied wet-on-dry and never rushed.

Flat sand
Sanded flat with dust control, keeping compound depth even across the whole wall.

Light check
Raking-light inspection and correction before the surface is signed off.
