Level 4 Drywall Finishing in Kamloops, BC

Level 4 is the industry standard for painted residential and light commercial interiors. Tape is embedded in the joints, then two further coats go over the tape, the corner bead and every fastener head. Each coat is feathered wider than the last so the transition onto the board face disappears, and the whole surface is sanded flat before primer.

Between the finished joints, the paper face of the board is left exposed. With flat or eggshell paint in ordinary light, that reads as a single uniform surface — which is exactly why Level 4 is specified on the majority of new builds in Kamloops.

Bedrooms, hallways, basements, secondary suites, most kitchens and typical office interiors are all well served at Level 4 with a flat or low-sheen paint. You get a clean, durable, paint-ready surface without paying for a full skim you won't be able to see.

A poorly executed Level 4 shows joints through the paint just as readily as a missing skim would. Coats that were rushed while still damp shrink and crack. Joints feathered too narrow leave a visible ridge. Over-sanding scuffs the paper and raises fuzz that the primer then telegraphs.
